One thing this presidential campaign has taught us is that new ways of reaching different population groups are emerging, and these will start playing a much larger role in the future.

Because of this new insight a debate which is sponsored by Myspace, MTV and the Associated Press will take place in February and two of the candidates are scheduled to appear, these are Senatro Clinton and Gov. Huckabee.

This will go on three days before the “Super-Tuesday” which is an important event in the primary race.

MySpace has already hosted several debates and events but the “feather in the Hat” will be on February 2nd.

Studies show that past myspace presidential dialogue videos have been streamed over a million times, informing young people about the presidential elections.

The social networking company MySpace has finally won the domain name of myspace.co.uk even though this domain was registered six years before myspace was ever thought of.

When it was seen that the myspace.co.uk was a parked page with advertisements for other social networking sites including myspace, theer was enough evidence to consider the domain as an abusive registration and it was given to myspace.

The domain had been registered by Total Web solutions in 1997 and was used to offer mini websites to subscribers and other email services.

The company that arbitrated the site found that it was used to put keyword related advertising on the site. At any rate the site now belongs to myspace.

Companies like Time Warner and other big cable companies are scared of the movie downloads and television programs that can be watched over the Internet. Time Warner has stated that they are testing a new rate plan in Texas that would allow for a certain amount of data to be transmitted to a customer, after which a certain fee will be charged.
These new procedures are targeted toward people that download large files on peer to peer networks. They say this is only about 5% of customers. They fear social networking sites like MySpace because the site is now becoming a contemporary media platform.
In the beginning MySpace was only a place friends, but now it is becoming very competitive in both written and multimedia forms.

The publishing company Penguin and MySpace have partnered up to create a unique contest. There is a MySpace page that is being used to promote a new book release from Sebastian Faulks. This is a new James Bond novel named Devil May Care. The site will also have some other neat things such as wall papers and new cover art for the upcoming Ian Fleming book.
New and old 007 fans will have the opportunity to compose and perform the official Devil May Care theme song. This song will be featured on the audio book and will be available through iTunes and the Penguin Site.
Musicians and James bond fans all over britain will be able to submit their ideas for the new Bond novel. The top five will be selected by a judging panel, including the author, Jazzi B, and Mathew Fleming. The competition is open to all musicians, whether professional or amateur and the deadline for these entries is on February 25th.

The half a million photos pulled off of MySpace accounts made the top ten list of most popular downloads, and this file is 17gigs heavy. It beat out the pirated copy of No Country For Old Men, I am Legend and Sweeney Todd. This file was made using a hole that is now fixed in myspace. This hole exposed photos of private files for a month or so.
On Monday, the file suddenly became less popular when people found out that all they got to see was wedding and baby pictures. Pretty boring! The story is that the leak may have been a type of punishment for Myspace not fixing the problem quickly.

With all the MySpace gossip being bandied about, the dumbest things are occurring. It turns out that a school police officer is undergoing a criminal investigation because of his MySpace account. It appears that one of the people he has listed as friends has a link on his profile that goes to an internet porn site.
The media has gone crazy with this one, stating that a kid could go to the officers site and then link in to “Amateur Match Free Sex” in a matter of a few clicks.
In other words, the officer did not have porn on his Myspace profile and he did not link to porn. But one of his 170 contacts did. Now this officer is being investigated for making adult content available to underage kids.
The officer was encouraged to set up the myspace profile in order to communicate with kids, but what he didn’t know is that he was supposed to check all of his friends’ profiles everyday to make sure that there were no inappropriate links, as if he doesn’t have enough to do.

Sanford Wallace made a ton of money in just six months from running a spyware scam on MySpace. According to court documents he netted over $500,000 dollars.

His scheme involved using malware to make myspace users go onto gambling and porn related sites. He started in 2006, just after settling charges relating to spyware. He was ordered to pay a fifty thousand dollar fine at that time.

A Davidson County Criminal court Judge ordered a 19 year old teenager to hold a sign reading, “Respect the police, they are not pigs as I said on my MySpace page” and, “There is nothing funny about guns or cool about gangs.”
Apparently both were statements he touted on his myspace page. The order was part of a condition for the probation the teen got for coercing a witness. This tean also posted other threatening messages to another Teen on MySpace. This 19 year old wont actually have to carry out the sentence until his case is appealed.

A teenagers MySpace site has been stolen from her. The culprits have defaced the site and added hateful content with sexually explicit material. This teenager believes that former friends are the culprits of the tragedy and she says that she cant get on to it and cant even remove it. Her parents have called Myspace, but still haven’t received an answer.
This leaves some questions to be answered about the security of social networking sites and what is being done to improve that security.

As always Myspace brings both the good and the bad. Apparently an upstate New York Mom says her daughter is being bullied on the Myspace site. Former friends are posting terrible things about her preteen daughter, and all the information is erroneous. This information has become so derogatory that the childs mother is considering a law suit.

The mother states that she doesn’t want to sue the children, but she would consider charging the parents for not watching over their children.

Unfortunately state law has nothing in place for cyber bullying. Sites like Myspace offer cyberbullying advice and they recommend that you keep copies of all threatening messages. Block individuals that are sending you such terrible messages to prevent them from contacting you again and if they create a mean profile meant to hurt you contact the myspace customer service.

All 50 states and Myspace have agreed to step up their security measures. In the agreement made on the 14th of January MySpace promised to better protect their under age users with a specialized safety task force and have introduced the new age lock. This process allows users that are under 18 to block out users that are over 18.

The new safety program also prohibits adult users from browsing through profiles of users under the age of 16. Myspace will also create a list of email addresses of children under the age of 18. Parents who don’t want their children to create a MySpace Page can send their Childs email address in, and that child will be prohibited from creating a profile

Both myspace and legislators believe that these new security measures will help protect teenagers online.

Most marketing firms believe that there are likely to be more creative ideas that come from social networking sites than from biotech or technology parks. The idea is that these parks tend to work in isolation and they don’t encourage innovation.

Their idea is to get specialized people together in a secluded place to create innovations, but it doesn’t just work like that stated Leadbeater a speaker for Cisco.

In Fact Leadbeater states that that real innovation comes from collaborative efforts like that found in social networks or through the Web 2.0 users like those from Myspace.

Large companies are now looking to diversify and want new ideas and new technology, but they are not going to find it in their Tech parks.

We’ve all heard the MySpace horror stories and indeed they are troubling. But low and behold Myspace is also helping law enforcement. It is helping keep kids safe too. Myspace is a way for law enforcement to track down run away kids.

Believe it or not, Family Services has been able to find over 60 lost kids through their myspace sites. In fact they were just recently able to get into contact with a teenager who had been gone for over two years. It is a really good feeling when we are able to do something like this, stated several Child Services workers.

Do you wonder what it would be like to be able to watch ABC’s top shows on your MySpace page? Soon all MySpace users will be able to do this.
Today ABC has signed contracts with Myspace that will allow them to use clips from their most popular shows on themyspace tv channel and this, then can be posted on an individuals personal profile.

Myspace studies showed that users wanted to be able to add video to their profile without infringing on a netewrks rights.

Fuser a program that allows users to combine their email and their social networking accounts into a single box have initiated the Fuser Facebook application. This is similar to fuser.com, but has a slight twist. It allows Facebook users to check MySpace messages, bulletins, and any other relative information from their facebook account. This way Facebook users don’t even have to leave the site to check on their MySpace accounts.
Studies show that 20% of Facebook users also have MySpace accounts and view their MySpace accounts directly after leaving Facebook. It is also stated that 43% o users belong to two social networking sites, and 60% of those spend about ten hours a week managing their communications from these sites.

Today high tech has no age boundaries. You can be text messaged by your girlfriend or by your girlfriend’s grandmother. It is not unusual to see parents post greetings and information on children’s mySpace pages, or to im with children and grandchildren, so we can stay in touch.
Kids find it great that parents and grand parents are taking such an interest in their stuff. It is no longer true that the average middle aged person can simply read email and work simple office programs and that’s about all. Today everybody carries BlackBery, Twitter, or even Hulu to blog on heir phones, download videos and even TV programs.
Although some kids are complaining when adults try to infringe on their MySpace turf, they think this has gone a little too far. It gets a little creepy when an adult asks to be a friend. It’s kind of like a 40 year old going to the prom. The problem is easily solved though, you can refuse to let the adult view your site.

Jeff Berman is to oversee all marketing concepts and content for MySpace. His first accomplishment was the biggest deal with BBC worldwide, which will broadcast on MySpace now.

Berman will add new and innovative content in the music film and celebrity end of MySpace.
MySpace has promoted Jeff Berman to oversee all of its content and marketing initiatives. Berman has been at MySpaces since 2006 and started as a Vp in public affairs. Close to ten months away from the presidential elections in the United States, and we have already seen two events that have never happened before. The first was the postulation of the first African American presidential.
It is also the first national political campaign where social networking sites like MySpace plays an important role, in the influence of young voters.
Anyone with an internet connection can register at MySpace and get their own webpage with Myspace, and once that is in place can add the presidential candidate of their choice as one of their network friends.

Two years after the co founder of MySpace was talking about expanding and when Rupert Murdock bought the site in 2005, it was thought that the social networking site could expand to four or five international sites per year, but the new owner suggested moving it up to 15 international versions.

Not only is MySpace expanding it is also evolving. MySpace is now introducing new musicians and playing a part in the film making industry. They are also investing in their own record label and developing the online video market. It is now much more than just a place for friends. There are now an estimated 100 million monthly users and MySpace is being actively used as an advertising space.

When the site sold, it went for close to $600 million, today revenue produced from my space enters the $800 million range.

2008 is the year for MySpace. There is no other place you can be connected to as many as 87 billion people. These social networking sites have redefined what we have always known as pop culture.
MySpace is talked about everywhere, comics talk about it in their shows, or on TV. Even presidential candidates knock on your MySpace door asking to add you in as a friend. Commercial businesses like Hot Topic sell products with slogans like: “Your Mom is my friend.”
The reality is that social networking sites like MySpace are here and they are staying, no matter what the publicity says. Remember when critics said that we would lose our hearing when the iPod came out, or when cellphones were touted as the cancer carrying electronic. Today Myspace critics state that these sites as destroying family values and causes people to buy things they don’t want, that only immoral people use the sites.
Although to some degree this is true, but it is also true that child molesters, murderers, and robbers existed long before MySpace came along.

Even the post office has put themselves on MySpace. They now have a digital marketing campaign on the social networking site. This new advertising makes the post office appear like the people’s post office. Their MySpace page lets consumers interact with the Web Sites Post Master character named John Hensha and his team of post office workers. This campaign was chosen for MySpace to make the Post Office seem a friendlier place. Funny how they chose MySpace as the friendly place to advertise!
The site also has several bogs and different wallpapers that can be downloaded. The MySpace ad has allowed the post office to target people who would not normally visit their local post office.

An innovative idea by a Texas man has caught on. A contract entrepreneur launched a site on the internet to help contractors all of the state look for contracts in the market.
Dustin Kokenes find himself trying to come up with ideas on how to help other freight companies get market exposure online. Based on the MySpace site he came up with a social networking site for freight contractors and the creation of Southtxtransmark. Just like MySpace the website is a network of Texas based contractors that share news, updates and custom profiles for members.

With all the news going around about Australian boys cyber invite to party that led to 500 guests and a large bill caused by damages, a lot of other information about different parties has also come up. It is now known that Gatecrash MySpace parties can cause a lot more damage, than just angry parents and a few bills.
These parties can also cost lives. As in the death of Allen Joplin, a 17 year old American high school student who was shot by a MySpace crasher. Nine days later Corey Worthington was hailed for his MySpace party and even offered a job as a promoter. What was the difference between this arty and Allen Joplin’s, just the luck of the draw I guess!

Kids are up in arms calling teacher and principal intrusion into their MySpace sites an invasion of privacy. They say its like having a teacher or principal go to your home and rifle through your private photos, notes and papers and then chastising you, punishing you or suspending you for what he or she found there. They feel this intrusion to be a total invasion of privacy.
According to students: What teachers don’t understand is that MySpace is exactly that a space, like any space in a room to decorate or do with as they wish. Adults should not have the right to dictate what a teenager does with their own privacy.

Athletic coaches and sports instructors seem to have a hard time with MySpace and kids. LauraBarber a swim coach had her first experience when invited to view a team members site. All she could see was blood, leather, and chains. She says its about kids trying to be too adult, and getting lost in the process.
This coach had the student clean up her site, if she wanted to continue on the site. There have recently been others whom she has had to make the same request.
Some coaches report team members leaking team information on their MySpace site. Some kids have even been suspended or lost scholarships because of underage drinking pictures on their websites.
This is just one more thing that coaches have to worry about in today’s athletics.

Ever since yesterday the news has been full of the quirk allowed people to look at photos which were supposed to be private profiles on MySpace. These profiles were supposed to be private and not viewable by the general public.
This little problem has been around since last October, which means all types of voyeurs have been getting their kicks since then. You’ll find all kinds of postings stating that wierdos are checking in on the 14 and 15 year old girls. The worst part is that these voyeurs share whatever they find with other sick friends.
So, where was the great MySpace security team? Well, now that it hit the news. MySpace has worked on the problem. Why didn’t they take care of the problem before? They might not have known about it, or they might not have cared, until the press got wind of it.

Everybody knows how to use the internet and especially kids. In fact kids probably know more about the internet and sites like MySpace and Facebook than parents do. And because of this a college has decided to offer a noncredit course about sites like YouTube, MySpace and Facebook. The course is to take place from 10 in the morning to noon, Jan. 22, 24, and 29 at the Desmond Campus at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh.
The course will focus on the use and the benefit of social sites like MySpace, and Facebook. It will also focus on how to avoid the dangers that can come from using the sites, by not making personal information available for everyone to view. The course will also discuss how businesses can take advantage of certain features on these social networking sites.
Child security will also be brought up and ways parents can protect and monitor children's use on the site.

MySpace came out with MySpace Russia today and did not really announce it. It just suddenly appeared and it looks like a MySpace Turkey is coming out to..
This took some work from MySpace because it involves more than just translating the site. You need to learn about the customs, and whats hot and whats not in that country.
MySpace is now translated and local to 23 different international countries and have offices in 8 different countries.

Everyone knows that teenagers will be teenagers, but problems arise when we blow it all out of proportion as in the case of Corey Delaney the Australian party boy.
The news is full of tales about how this young teenager waited for his parents to head out of town before having a party. What he did not expect was for 500 revelers who saw his invitation on MySpace to show up.
When all was said and done several police cars and property were damaged, the next day Corey became a legend among his companions. He was all over the news, in every newspaper around the world, on every major radio station.
Corey is not the first to have problems from listing a party on MySpace, Rachael Bell had over 200 crashers turn up at her house in England, causing more than $40,000 in damage. Christopher Worthy had 150 MySpace guests turn up at his house after posting the details on YouTube.
But Delaney has acquired legendary publicity because of his cavalier attitude and “not giving a hoot” about what his parents think. Even brandying about that he plans another party.
This young teenager is even being rewarded by being offered job after job for his accomplishments. The problem is that his “accomplishments” are not anything any naughty teenager wouldn’t do. Why are we rewarding him for misbehaving?

MySpace has become a part of what it means to be a teenager. It is a written rule that all teens need to set up a MySpace profile, a place where they can post photos, messages and communicate with their friends. The problem is that these underage users are “open game” for sexual predators, criminals, and the underbelly of our society.
The problem has gotten so bad that many of the states have threatened to sue MySpace if they don’t do something to try and remedy the situation. MySpace in turn has agreed to better monitor its site, and keep strangers from viewing underage childrens websites, and allows parents to bar children from setting up profiles if they wish.
Althoug MySpace was congratulated on their efforts, real internet users are skeptical of these new measures. Will they actually work? There are many doubts as to the reality of these security measures.

MySpace needs to be made more secure by law enforcement and other users. There have been to many terrible things happen to a few of the users of MySpace.
In New York, there was a couple that sexually assaulted two young girls under the age of 15. In Texas a girl was drugged and assaulted by a MySpace user.
We need to prevent this type of thing frorm happening and that’s why MySpace is upping their security measures and creating a task force to watch over the site.
In many cases it might be up to other users to help prevent abuse of the site because there are over 200 million users world wide. Teens need to learn about being more careful on the site and avoid actually meeting predators in person.

Everybody seemed to be talking about Facebook last year, but recent studies show that MySpace is still the preferred social network. In 2007, apparently 76% of users preferred MySpace over Facebook
Not only that but of the 76% of visitors to the social networking site, over 95% of them returned. This means that MySpace gets more people to return again and again. It is also said that MySpace users spend an average of thirty minutes on the site, whereas Facebook users only spend about 23 minutes on the site.
That’s not to say that Facebook hasn’t had the growth that it is touting. In fact it did have a 50% increase in users in the last year, and still continues to grow, but not enough to set MySpace aside.

MySpace has decided to update security to some degree on the site, due to situations like the following.
Late in 2006 a 22 year old woman lured two teenage girls to her home, where she and her husband got them drunk then had sex with them and taking them down to a strip club, where they were also taken advantage of.
The man and woman were arraigned last Saturday on a 56 count indictment, charging them with rape, sexual abuse, and other crimes.
The new multistate agreement between state governments and MySpace will help protect these children who are easily lured by predators.

Site like MySpace and Facebook are moving forward in today technology. They have already changed much of the way we view Internet, but now they are considering going mobile.

MySpace is considering taking their social network beyond the Internet and into the real world through the cellular phone industry. The idea is to let users post messages on their MySpace Sites and let their friends and network users see messages on their phones. Another option is to let phone users look for other users email addresses or phone numbers on their MySpace profiles.

We will have to see were these ideas lead to in the future.

It is amazing how what we say on social networks like MySpace affect the actions and thoughts of others. Recently that has been made clear when a federal grand jury subpoenaed records, and representatives of the social network with regards to the impersonation of a young boy by a child’s mother named Lori Drew.
Apparently while impersonating a young boy she rejected the teenage neighbor of 13. Afterward Megan Meier the teenage neighbor committed suicide.
Some people and especially teenagers really take opinions expressed on MySpace seriously and we should watch what we post and write.

Social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook are becoming important even to politicians. This demonstrates that politics is also going digital. MySpace even has virtual polling booths were more than 150,000 people visited on Jan. 1 and 2nd. Imagine the technology needed to be able to verify only one ballot per user, and no robots!
The results were surprising with Barack Obama leading with 46% and Hillary Clinton down to 36% and the Republican favorite being Ron Paul. This doesn’t mean that politicians will win or lose because of social networks like MySpace, but it does show how influential the sites can be.

Caused by the proliferate use of MySpace by the many sex offenders, the Attorney General for Indiana has proposed a new law to keep these people off of the social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace.
Although the idea has its merits, it is still difficult to see how such a law would be imposed. It is said that the sex offenders would be required to register his username and email address to authorities.
The problem is that these laws are too easy to bypass. What is to stop the sex offender from creating another email address and username, or from using several email addresses at the same time?

The bad guys are out to get us again! When using MySpace there is another reason to keep your virus protection, and security updates up to speed, someone is using hacked MySpace profiles to make victims download a Trojan Horse and disguising it as a Microsoft update.
Although it does not seem to be proliferate, McAfee has only seen one MySpace profile that has done this, but it is situations like this that show us how sites like MySpace can be vulnerable to criminals.
When surfing on MySpace a window pops up telling the user to download a Microsoft windows Malicious software removal too, afterwards an image appears on the whole of the computer screen and when the user clicks anywhere on the image the Trojan Horse begins to download.
