Purple does not correspond to a single color or definition as it is used to explain the colors occurring between two primary colors namely, red and blue. The color purple is formed by mixing two primary colors including red and blue in different proportions by adding a third primary color along with it like green or yellow.
The exact definition of purple is still under controversy as many of them consider the color to be magenta instead of purple and others feel it to be heliotrope when considering some of the shades produced by mixing. Violet is yet another color which resembles purple and it is often mistaken for the same.
