Many people around the world are known to experience what are known as ‘psychedelic experiences’. These experiences are very hard to explain or define and are also caused sometimes under the influence of certain drugs. These experiences typically include altered states of awareness, excessive hallucination and even states that resemble that of psychosis. The term psychedelic was first coined by renowned psychiatrist Humphry Osmond in 1957. The term became popular with the popularity of certain narcotic drugs which are known as ‘psychedelic drugs’ since they are also believed to give the same sort of experience. In fact whole new culture with its own fashion, arts and music began around psychedelic experiences and is known as ‘psychedelia’.
