This is a form of lifestyle that was originated within the premises of the hardcore punk subcultures. The believers of this withdrew themselves from the habit of smoking, drinking alcohol etc. The phrase ‘Straight edge’ was first used in the 1980s. This name was thought out by a hardcore punk band group named Minor Threat. They pointed out these words in a song “Straight Edge”. Enthusiasts believe that their bodies should not be involved with any type of alcoholic substances. After the release of this song there was a debate over the lifestyle of the adherents. Because their body should not be in contact with any types of alcohols, some of the adherents took up the lifestyle of a pure vegetarian.
