The word Aloha is an acknowledgment that can be used to say ‘hello’ or ‘goodbye’. This word comes from the Hawaiian language. Aloha can also be mentioned as fondness, leniency, affection to others etc. There is also a state called Aloha State which is situated in Hawaii. It is a shortened form of Hawaii State. Actually the word Aloha comes from the language used in the Eastern Malayo- Polynesian regions. The language spoken in these regions is Polynesian language. Aloha is a combination of two words. The first word ‘alo’ means current existence, combination, face etc. On the other hand, the word ‘ha’ relates to the essence of life or the intimation. In early stages of life, people use ‘anoai’ and ‘weline’ words to greet others. Other phrases for greeting people are aloha kakahiaka, aloha auinala and aloha ahiahi.These in terms we use modern words like ‘good morning’, ‘good afternoon’ and ‘good evening’.
